Col(Dr) Shivji Misra(Retd)
Colonel(Dr) Shivji Misra(Retd) was born in a well educated Kanyakubj Brahmin family in Kanpur(Uttar Pradesh). His father was disciple of Sri Aurobindo & The Mother and visited Pondycherry many times in 1970’s and 1980’s. Colonel Misra from his student days visited Aurobindo Ashram & Auroville regularly attended Meditations and Savitri Reading Sessions. He did his Schooling in Jaipur, and did MSc(Physics) and did Second Post Graduation in Journalism & Mass Communication from Kurukshetra University, Haryana. He also did PhD on the Topic ‘ An Analytical Study of Mahatma Gandhi as Journalist’ from RDVV University, Jabalpur(MP). From the childhood Colonel Misra’s passion was to serve his country, to achieve this he joined Corps of Signals of Indian Army as Commissioned Officer. He served Indian Army for 33 Years in various capacities including Dy Director in Ministry of Defence, and Commanded various Sub Units & Units of Indian Army. He retired in the rank of Colonel. After completing his career in Army he worked as Head of Admin & Registrar of Army Institute of Hotel Management & Catering Technology, Bangalore and also served as Head of ECHS (Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme) Polyclinic, Bangalore. He served as Nodal Officer & Frontline Worker during Covid Pandamic. As part of his dedication towards his country and Society, now he is giving pro bono service as Chairman of Sri Aurobindo Society, and Sri Aurobindo Centenary School, Tadipatri(AP).
